Perry Hicks
Associate
Perry Hicks is an associate based in Berger Singerman’s Miami office, and a member of the Dispute Resolution team. Perry focuses his practice on a wide range of civil litigation matters in both state and federal courts. Prior to joining Berger Singerman, Perry spent three years as a staff attorney for the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and then served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Adalberto Jordan of the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He also spent time at a Florida-based boutique litigation firm. As a result, Perry gained experience in a wide swath of areas and an appreciation for effective creativity in written and oral advocacy.
- Successfully defended investment firm and its principal to final award in arbitration concerning claims for fraud and breach of asset purchase agreement arising from sale of national paint company brought by former owners
- Obtained dismissal for lack of personal jurisdiction in favor of industry-leading asset management firm in multimillion-dollar franchise dispute
- Obtained injunctive relief on behalf of South Florida home health care company to enforce restrictive covenants against former employees and related business torts against competitor
- Represented renowned health and wellness influencer in enforcing intellectual property rights in the United States and internationally against individual and institutional infringers, including obtaining injunctive relief and default judgments, as well as removal of infringing content from social media platforms and online sales platforms
- Represented health and wellness company and its principals in dual federal proceedings arising out of complex contractual dispute with former business partners
- Represented Florida entrepreneur in defamation action against former business associates
- Represented national insurance brokerage and consulting firm in consolidated federal proceedings over disputed payments under asset purchase agreement with former principal of acquired business entity
- Represented condominium owner in payment dispute with homeowners’ association
- Represented board member of homeowners’ association in defending against claims for defamation from community member
- Represented judgment creditors in proceedings supplementary arising from near-billion-dollar Ponzi scheme for recovery of fraudulent transfers
