Berger Singerman Expands the Firm’s Dispute Resolution and Business Finance and Tax Teams with the Addition of Three Associates

Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, is pleased to announce that Perry Hicks and former summer associates, AJ Fernandez, and Brennan Shechtman, have joined the firm.
“Perry, AJ, and Brennan’s talent and energy will further strengthen our award-winning Dispute Resolution and Business Finance and Tax Teams,” said Jordi Guso, managing partner of Berger Singerman. “Our new team members share our commitment to the delivery of passionate client service and creative and effective solutions for our clients.”
Perry Hicks joins the firm as an associate on its Dispute Resolution Team in its Miami office and focuses his practice on a wide range of civil litigation matters in both state and federal courts. Hicks pursued his undergraduate education at Auburn University, where he received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He then went on to Georgia State University College of Law where he received his J.D., graduating magna cum laude. While in law school, Hicks served as the Articles Editor for the Georgia State University Law Review, coached Moot Court, and was the recipient of the CALI Award for Food and Drug Law. Upon graduation, Hicks worked as a Staff Attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, then went on to work as a Litigation Associate at Bishop and Mills, after which he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Adalberto Jordan at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
AJ Fernandez joined the firm’s Business, Finance and Tax Team and is resident in its Miami office. Fernandez received his A.L.B. and graduated cum laude, from Harvard Extension School University. He then went on to obtain his J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. While in law school, he was a member of the Journal of Technology Law & Policy, a Teaching Assistant for Legal Writing I and II, and spent his last semester in-house at Formula 1 Miami. AJ currently sits on the Board of Directors of Camillus House.
Brennan Shechtman joined the firm’s Dispute Resolution Team and is resident in its Miami office. Shechtman received her B.A. in psychology from the University of Michigan. She then went on to obtain her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, graduating cum laude. At UM Law, Shechtman was a Dean’s Merit Scholar and received the CALI Award and Dean’s Achievement Award in Copyright Law, Transactional Skills I, and Digital Transformational Skills. She was also Staff Editor of the Inter-American Law Review, President of the Business Law Society, and a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society and Miami Law Women.
