We Mourn the Loss of Our Colleague Sheldon S. Polish
Our firm is profoundly saddened to announce the loss of our colleague and dear friend, Sheldon S. Polish. Shelly was an exceptional lawyer specializing in all areas of income and estate tax, including corporations, partnerships, individual and estates. Shelly passed away on August 18, 2021.
Shelly had a stellar career and received bountiful, richly deserved recognition from his peers, both in the accounting and legal worlds. He was active in the community, having previously served as president of The Jewish Federation of Fort Lauderdale as well as other boards of several organizations including Jewish Family Services.
Shelly graduated from The Ohio State University with a BS in Accounting. He worked for the IRS in Cleveland while going to Cleveland Marshall College of Law at night where he earned his JD degree. Upon graduation he moved to the IRS in Washington, DC. In 1973 he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to join Ernst & Young as a CPA where he spent the next 20 years. Shelly joined Greenberg Traurig in 1993 and a decade later moved to Berger Singerman where he completed his career.
Shelly leaves behind his loving family whom he adored, wife, Lois, son Jack (Barbara) Polish, and daughter Cheryl (Josh) Rosenberg, both of Atlanta, as well as grandchildren Jordan and Sampson Polish, and Sadie and Hannah Rosenberg.
We were blessed to call Shelly our colleague for 18 years and, more importantly, our friend. Shelly was the best of us, and we will never forget him.
