Tony Carriuolo has extensive experience in a variety of fields, including complex business litigation, disputes affecting commercial real estate and related investment interests, litigation involving securitized lending vehicles, advocacy as special counsel to governmental agencies, adversarial proceedings adverse to public bodies, and engagements as special litigation counsel to Chapter 11 debtors in possession, bankruptcy trustees and major lenders. He has experience in pursuing and defending claims asserted against directors and officers of publicly-traded companies, including coverage disputes with their insurers. He has represented clients in shareholder disputes, trade litigation, controversies affecting commercial real estate properties, and disputes resulting from governmental decisions affecting proposed development. His litigation practice has included employment-related cases, such as the successful pursuit of embezzlement claims, the defense of management before the federal courts involving claims of harassment, discrimination or wrongful termination, and litigation resulting from hiring raids between competitors. He has positive experience in managing parallel litigations pending before several tribunals (including international courts), with efficiency.
Tony has appeared as special litigation counsel in a variety of courts outside of Florida including, without limitation, the United States Bankruptcy and District Courts for the District of Delaware, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Northern Districts of New York and for the District of Puerto Rico.

- Creative representation of major developers of multi-family and commercial properties throughout Florida suffering from financial turmoil, including defense/counterclaims in actions commenced by solo or syndicated major lenders
- Special litigation counsel to Chapter 11 debtors in possession, bankruptcy trustees and major lenders in large cases (Florida and elsewhere), including prosecution of major insurance claims, and major fraudulent transfer claims
- Special litigation counsel to Liquidating Trust pursuing claims against former directors and officers of defunct international group of companies, including parallel participation in US securities class action and in litigations throughout Europe and Asia
- Representation of directors and officers regarding insurance coverage disputes
- Adversarial proceedings at all levels of local government, representing aggrieved landowners/developers
- Represented public bodies as special litigation counsel regarding inter-governmental control and funding disputes involving contractual, statutory or constitutional issues, including:
- Defended the School Board of Broward County against charter school funding lawsuit seeking $27 million and having statewide implications
- Represented the School Board of Broward County against a third-party service provider, seeking reimbursement of monies not recovered in a prior settlement of federal court litigation against the School District, in which the service provider’s acts and omissions had exposed the District to economic risk. Assisted the School District in reaching a favorable, cost-effective settlement of the state court action and was also successful in crafting a favorable compromise of the prior federal litigation (valued at over $13 million) after having been engaged to defend those claims as that case was heading to a jury trial
- Represented the Health Care District of Palm Beach County in actions relating to operation/control and budgeting of rural and urban hospitals, and associated creditor disputes in State and Bankruptcy courts
- Represented the City of Pompano Beach in defense of multi-million dollar inverse condemnation claims at trial and appellate levels
- Representation of clients in complex real estate litigation, including defense of joint venturer/partnership claims
- International litigation involving $100+ million bank fraud claims and including D&O exposure in related securities class action litigation
- Representation of minority shareholder group concerning impairments of investments in closely-held entities and diversion of corporate assets
- Representations of estate and trust fiduciaries adverse to fiduciary duty and breach of trust claims
- Representation of borrowers and carve-out guarantors in a variety of litigations involving CMBS constituents
