Christopher Andrew Jarvinen Provides Perspectives on Litigation-Related “Hot Topics” Under Chapter 15 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code at the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Caribbean Insolvency Symposium

Christopher Andrew Jarvinen, a partner on the Business Reorganization Team of Berger Singerman LLP, spoke on February 9, 2021 on the panel, “Cross-Border Rescue and Failure: Temas Candentes (Hot Topics)”, at the Caribbean Insolvency Symposium hosted by the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI). Mr. Jarvinen spoke on recent, litigation-related, case developments with respect to the issues of removal, abstention and remand in the context of cross-border insolvencies under Chapter 15 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
The ABI is the largest association of bankruptcy professionals in the United States, made up of over 12,000 members in multi-disciplinary roles, including attorneys, auctioneers, bankers, judges, lenders, professors, turnaround specialists, accountants and others. The ABI is committed to serving its members with high-quality conferences, comprehensive continuing education, effective legal research, and dynamic networking opportunities. This year’s Caribbean Insolvency Symposium brought together regional judges and top practitioners for a half-day, interactive and informative programming.
Mr. Jarvinen has been elected to the American College of Bankruptcy, American Law Institute, and the International Insolvency Institute, and he recently served as a Fulbright scholar at the Bankruptcy Law & Restructuring Research Center at the China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, China. Mr. Jarvinen received his law degree from Boston College Law School, his undergraduate degree in economics from Brown University, graduate degrees in theological ethics and religion from, respectively, Harvard Divinity School and Yale Divinity School, a global Executive Master of Business Administration from FGV-EAESP in São Paulo, Brazil and both a Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership and a Master of Science degree in Major Programme Management from the Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford. He has also studied at Columbia University and the University of Cambridge. In his spare time, Mr. Jarvinen is currently obtaining a master of applied science in global health planning and management from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
