Christopher Andrew Jarvinen Elected as Chairperson of the Standing Bankruptcy Lawyers Advisory Committee (LAC) of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Southern District of Florida

Christopher Andrew Jarvinen, a partner on the Business Reorganization Team of Berger Singerman LLP, has been elected to serve as the Chairperson of the standing Lawyers Advisory Committee (LAC) of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida (Court). The LAC consists of members of the Bar of the Court selected by the Chief Judge after consultation with the other Bankruptcy Judges. Mr. Jarvinen previously served in the roles of Secretary and Vice-Chairperson of the LAC. Formed in 2018 by the Court, the LAC exists (i) to receive requests from the Court to consider issues relating to, arising from, and/or affecting the practice of law before the Court, (ii) to recommend to the Court changes in bankruptcy practice and/or procedure throughout the District, (iii) to act as a liaison between the Court and bankruptcy law practitioners throughout the District, (iv) to develop, implement, and maintain various bankruptcy-related programs in the District, as requested by the Court, and (v) to consider or initiate any matter related to bankruptcy as it deems appropriate.
Mr. Jarvinen has been elected to the American College of Bankruptcy, American Law Institute, and the International Insolvency Institute. During 2019, he served as a Fulbright scholar at the China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, China. Mr. Jarvinen received his law degree from Boston College Law School, his undergraduate degree in economics from Brown University, graduate degrees in theological ethics and religion from, respectively, Harvard Divinity School and Yale Divinity School, a Global Executive Master of Business Administration from FGV-EAESP (São Paulo, Brazil) and both a Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership and a Master of Science degree in Major Programme Management from the Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford. He has also studied in graduate programs at Teachers College of Columbia University, the Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. For three years, Mr. Jarvinen taught International Legal Management to graduate business students at FGV-EAESP.
