Christopher Andrew Jarvinen Attends the Sixtieth Session of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group V (Insolvency Law)

Christopher Andrew Jarvinen, a partner on the Business Reorganization Team of Berger Singerman LLP, has been invited to attend the sixtieth session of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Working Group V (Insolvency Law) being held at the United Nations in New York City between April 18-21. UNCITRAL plays a key role in developing and maintaining a robust cross-border legal framework for the facilitation of international trade and investment in pursuit of its mandate to further the progressive harmonization and modernization of the law of international trade. UNCITRAL does this by preparing and promoting the use and adoption of legislative and non-legislative instruments in a number of key areas of commercial law. At the current session, the Working Group is expected primarily to focus its work on the substance of the publication “UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency: The Judicial Perspective” and continuing deliberations on the topics of civil asset tracing and recovery in insolvency proceedings.
Mr. Jarvinen has been elected to the American College of Bankruptcy, American Law Institute, and the International Insolvency Institute. During 2019, he served as a Fulbright scholar at the China University of Political Science and Law in Beijing, China. Mr. Jarvinen received his law degree from Boston College Law School, his undergraduate degree in economics from Brown University, graduate degrees in theological ethics and religion from, respectively, Harvard Divinity School and Yale Divinity School, a global Executive Master of Business Administration from the Escola de Administração de Empresas de São Paulo da Fundação Getulio Vargas (São Paulo School of Business Administration (FGV-EAESP)) and both a Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership and a Master of Science degree in Major Programme Management from the Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford. He has also studied in graduate programs at Teachers College of Columbia University, the Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge and the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. For three years, Mr. Jarvinen taught International Legal Management to graduate business students at FGV-EAESP.
