Berger Singerman's Michael Higer Installed as President Elect of The Florida Bar

MIAMI, FL – June 20, 2016 – Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, is pleased to announce that Michael J. Higer has been installed as President-Elect of The Florida Bar. Higer, who will begin his term as president in June 2017, was sworn in at The Florida Bar’s Annual Bar Convention during its General Assembly on Friday, June 17. William J. Schifino Jr. of Tampa was sworn in as President.
With more than 103,000 members, The Florida Bar is one of the largest unified bars in the nation. It is charged by the Florida Supreme Court with regulating the practice of law in the state as well as promoting the administration of justice.
A partner at Berger Singerman and member of the firm’s Dispute Resolution Team, Higer is an experienced litigator and trial lawyer who has devoted his practice to commercial litigation and civil trial work involving a wide variety of matters. Higer was first elected to The Florida Bar’s Board of Governors in 2008, representing the 11th Circuit. He is also a former chair of the Business Law Section.
Higer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982 from the University of Florida and his Juris Doctorate degree with honors in 1985 from the University of Miami School of Law where he served as the Executive Editor of the Law Review.
