Berger Singerman Partner Christopher Andrew Jarvinen to Speak at U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China

Christopher Andrew Jarvinen, a partner on the Business Reorganization Team of Berger Singerman LLP, has accepted a speaking invitation from the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China. On April 30, 2019, Mr. Jarvinen will give a presentation focused on the issue of credit default swaps (CDS) and recent legal developments in the CDS market in the United States.
Diplomatic relations between China and the United States date back to the 18th century. Today, the economic relationship between the world’s two largest economies has been described as the most important bilateral relationship of the 21st century. The U.S. Embassy in Beijing serves as the cornerstone of the bilateral mission between China and the United States and houses more than 20 federal agencies. Mr. Jarvinen will make his presentation at the Beijing American Center which hosts a variety of educational, cultural and political topics. He is currently in China serving as a senior Fulbright Specialist in law through the U.S. Department of State.
Mr. Jarvinen has been elected to the American College of Bankruptcy, American Law Institute, and the International Insolvency Institute. He received his law degree from Boston College Law School, his undergraduate degree in Economics from Brown University, graduate degrees in theological ethics and religion from Harvard Divinity School and Yale Divinity School, a global Executive Master of Business Administration from FGV-EAESP in São Paulo, Brazil and both a Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Leadership and a Master of Science degree in Major Programme Management from the Saïd Business School of the University of Oxford.
