Berger Singerman Elevates David Black and Paul Figg to Partner

MIAMI –Jan.4, 2016– Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, is pleased to announce that David K. Black and Paul S. Figg have been elevated to Partner. Both of them were previously associates. Black is a member of the firm’s Business, Finance and Tax Team, Figg is a member of the firm’s Government and Regulatory Team.

Since joining Berger Singerman in 2010, Black has focused his practice on adding value to the efforts of entrepreneurs and private businesses in the full scope of their business, financing, and corporate and real estate transactions. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Posse Miami and was just appointed to the Board for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce. He previously served as president of The Underwater Bar Association and is currently a board member. In 2014 and 2013, he was listed in Chambers & Partners USA as a “Corporate/M&A & Private Equity Associate to Watch” and was listed in the 2013 Gold Coast Magazine’s “Rising Stars: 40 Under 40.” He received his B.A. summa cum laude from Rutgers University and his J.D. magna cum laude from Boston University School of Law.
Figg began his tenure with Berger Singerman more than nine years ago and has focused his practice on advising businesses on local government agency regulation, permitting and procurement, with a particular focus on resolving complex disputes through negotiated settlements. Figg also advises government agencies, franchisees and contractors on compliance with ethics, public records, sunshine, elections, procurement and Constitutional requirements. Prior to joining the firm, he served as a former Assistant County Attorney in Broward County and Assistant City Attorney for Miramar and Weston. In 2014, Figg was listed in Super Lawyers magazine as a “Florida Super Lawyer” and as a “Rising Star” in 2010, 2012 and 2013. He received his B.A. magna cum laude from the University of South Florida and his J.D. from the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law.
