Berger Singerman Bolsters Its Real Estate Team and Family Law Practice with Addition of Tallahassee Attorney, J.D. Durant
Durant adds extensive experience to the firm’s growing Real Estate and Family Law practices

Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, is pleased to announce that J.D. Durant has joined the firm as a partner on its Business, Finance and Tax and Dispute Resolutions Teams. Durant represents property owners and lenders throughout the southeast in all phases of residential and commercial real estate acquisition, development, and sale, and also represents parties in family law disputes. He is resident in the firm’s Tallahassee office.
Durant has experience with the bulk purchase, sale, and acquisition of condominium units, residential lots, and commercial real estate developments. He has handled the purchase and sale of various businesses in transactions that included secured financing and environmental reviews. He often assists clients in due diligence and financial feasibility investigations before real estate and business acquisitions. Durant also represents clients in all types of commercial and probate litigation, including disputes about contracts and fiduciary obligations. Drawing on his real estate and business experience, he focuses his family law practice on divorces with complex financial issues or large real estate holdings. He has represented high-net-worth clients in complex divorces throughout northern Florida.

Most recently, Durant was a partner at the Tallahassee-firm, Boyd & Durant He is Board Certified in Real Estate Law. Durant worked for Talbot (“Sandy”) D’Alemberte, President Emeritus of Florida State University, while he was in law school and upon graduation he worked as a litigator with Akerman.

Durant earned his B.S. from Florida State University. He earned his J.D. from Florida State University, where he graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into its The Order of the Coif, a national legal honor society, and The Order of Barristers, a national honorary organization whose purpose is the encouragement of oral advocacy and brief writing skills through effective law school oral advocacy programs.
