Berger Singerman Announces 2022 Elevations

Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, is pleased to announce that Jessie G. Torres and Christopher B. Choquette, have been elevated to Partner, and Michael J. Niles, has been promoted to ‘Of Counsel’. In addition to these promotions, the firm welcomed five new partners and grew its associate ranks by 50% over the past year, bolstering its four practice teams.

Jessie Torres is the firm’s Director of eDiscovery and Litigation Support and is resident in Berger Singerman’s Miami office. As a member of the Dispute Resolution Team, Jessie is a proven, creative lawyer and eDiscovery professional with nearly nine years of eDiscovery management experience. He previously led multiple eDiscovery projects relating to document review and coached attorneys, trained review managers, and interacted with clients daily. Jessie is a Relativity Certified User and is fluent in Spanish.
Christopher Choquette is an attorney on Berger Singerman's award-winning insurance practice group. His practice focuses on first-party coverage and property claims investigation and litigation. Before joining Berger Singerman, he was a partner with a statewide insurance defense firm where he oversaw hundreds of property insurance claims. Chris has experience on a wide array of first-party property issues, including hurricane damage, water claims, fire and vandalism losses, and assignment of benefit disputes. He played an integral role in the expansion of Berger Singerman’s Insurance Team in 2021 with the addition of three team members.
As a member of Berger Singerman’s Chambers-ranked Business Reorganization Team, Michael Niles specializes in commercial bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters, bankruptcy litigation, and commercial real estate transactions. He is resident in the Firm’s Tallahassee office, although his practice is statewide. He has represented stakeholders in bankruptcy proceedings filed under Chapter 7 and 11 and assisted clients in the purchase and sale of property from bankruptcy estates. Michael’s experience also includes representing both local and national developers, property owners, lenders and borrowers in the acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing and development of real property. He is currently a member of the Tallahassee Bar Association and the William H. Stafford Inn of Court as well as past president and current board member of the Northern District of Florida Bankruptcy Bar Association. Prior to entering private practice, Michael served as a judicial law clerk to United States Bankruptcy Judge Karen Specie of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Florida.
