We Mourn the Loss of Our Colleague Ricardo A. Gonzalez
October 3, 2022
With profound sadness, we announce the loss of our colleague and dear friend, Ricardo A. Gonzalez. Rick was an exceptional lawyer specializing in complex commercial litigation and regulatory defense and compliance. Rick passed away on September 25, 2022.
Rick had a stellar career and received bountiful, richly deserved recognition from his peers in the legal community. He was passionate about pro bono matters, particularly his work as a member of the litigation team that represented two foster children in the landmark Florida "Gay Adoption Case" which declared a state statute banning the adoption of children by gays and lesbians unconstitutional on equal protection grounds.
Throughout his career, Rick received several notable industry recognitions, including being named to U.S. News - Best Lawyers in Banking & Finance - Litigation, a Super Lawyers magazine “Rising Star” and a Daily Business Review “Most Effective Lawyer.” He earned his juris doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center and received his B.A., cum laude, from Georgetown University.
Rick leaves behind his loving husband, Ian, and their Jack Russell Terrier, Lila.
We were blessed to call Rick our colleague and, more importantly, our friend. Rick was the best of us, and we will never forget him. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Greater Miami in honor of Rick.
