Paul Steven Singerman Recipient of the 2019 M&A Advisor Lifetime Achievement Award

The firm is proud to announce that Paul Steven Singerman received the 2019 M&A Advisor Lifetime Achievement Award for his significant contribution to the bankruptcy and restructuring industry at the 13th Annual Turnaround Awards Gala on at The Colony Hotel in Palm Beach last night.
Mr. Singerman is the Co-Chair of Berger Singerman LLP, and he leads the firm’s Business Reorganization Team. For decades, Mr. Singerman has been nationally known for handling complex restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy cases, including loan workouts and cross-border matters. Best known for his representation of debtors in corporate reorganization cases and high-stakes litigation, he also represents creditors’ committees, lenders, large unsecured creditors, and asset purchasers in § 363 sales and trustees. He also has substantial experience in large fraud cases and “bet the company” litigation cases.
During the past decade, Mr. Singerman’s major cases have included serving as counsel to Judge Herbert Stettin as the court-appointed Chapter 11 Trustee in the $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme perpetrated by the law firm of Rothstein, Rosenfeldt & Adler, P.A. Mr. Singerman also represented the Creditors’ Committee in the Taylor, Bean & Whitaker case, one of the largest bankruptcy cases in Florida history, with in excess of $11 billion in claims when the case was filed in 2009. He and Berger Singerman’s Business Reorganization Team have also served as debtor’s counsel to Simply Fashion Stores, Ltd., HearUSA, Inc., Aloha Airlines, and Levitt and Sons. Recently, Mr. Singerman led the representation of a large health care supply chain company in an out-of-court restructuring and recapitalization, as well as the successful reorganization of Le Centre on Fourth, an historic and architecturally-restored, mixed-use commercial property and hotel located in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Singerman and the Berger Singerman Business Reorganization Team have also routinely served as Florida co-counsel to national law firms in numerous Chapter 11 cases, including TOUSA, Inc., Atlas Air and Polar Air Cargo.

Mr. Singerman was elected a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy in 2003 and was invited to join the American Law Institute in 2001. He is ranked in Chambers & Partners USA, America’s Leading Business Lawyers in Bankruptcy/Restructuring (2003-2018) and has been recognized as a “Star Individual,” Chambers’ highest ranking, for the past eight consecutive years. Mr. Singerman is also one of only two lawyers in the state of Florida to be ranked nationwide for Bankruptcy/Restructuring and is ranked globally in Bankruptcy in Chambers & Partners Global, The World's Leading Lawyers for Business (2013-2018).
