Daily Business Review
Managing partners and executives at Florida’s largest firms, including at Berger Singerman, were recently interviewed about their expectations for 2018. Many large firm leaders reported they are looking to hire attorneys in several practice areas, and more than one firm stated they will be expanding in the following year. Firms expect expansion and revenue growth in 2017 for the following practice areas - private equity, corporate M&A, intellectual property, tax, regulatory and government relations. All firms reported increased deal flow in 2017 over the previous year and expect more activity in 2018.
Berger Singerman’s co-chairman, Paul Singerman, acknowledges the impact that technology may have on practice areas and said “Smart law firms are going to be very thoughtful about their service offerings and the lines of business in which they operate … as to which of them are most at risk of commoditization and technological incursion. We are focused intensively on preserving and enhancing client relationships that require trusted adviser counsel and are not likely to ever be commoditized.”
