Berger Singerman Expands Intellectual Property Practice with Addition of Heidi Howard Tandy

Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, is pleased to announce that Florida Bar Board Certified expert in Intellectual Property (IP) law, Heidi Howard Tandy, has joined the firm as a partner on the Dispute Resolution Team. She will be a resident in Berger Singerman’s Miami office.
Tandy brings over 20 years of experience handling a variety of complex intellectual property matters. She focuses her practice on the procurement and enforcement of intellectual property rights, offering representation in a number of areas including trademarks, copyright infringement, licenses regarding user submissions and brand management, and social media and FTC compliance policies. She works with clients of all sizes and industries, including large corporations, small businesses, retail stores, non-profit organizations, content creators, musicians and novelists. Tandy regularly creates GDPR-compliant Terms of Service and Privacy policies for nonprofits and other business entities, and was also the first to create a “Terms of Use” policy for The New York Times in 1995.

She has contributed to numerous CLE programs and presented at a variety of notable universities and organizations such as Women of Tomorrow, Whittier Law School, Vidcon, Univeristy of Pennsylvannia, Princeton University, South By Southwest (SXSW) and many others on a variety of IP topics, including copyright, trademark, reputation and cyberbullying issues. In addition, her insight on IP matters has been extensively quoted in prestigious publications including Newsweek, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and more.
Prior to joining Berger Singerman, Tandy was an Of Counsel at Price Benowitz, LLP where she served as the lead attorney in proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Office’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and at the World Intellectual Property Organization. She earned her J.D. from Washington College of Law at American University, and her B.A. in Education from University of Pennsylvania.
Tandy is the latest high-profile addition to join Berger Singerman’s IP practice group, which includes Geoffrey Lottenberg, an experienced IP practitioner who represents clients in connection with Federal and State intellectual property, technology, and complex commercial litigation matters.
