Berger Singerman Elevates Gina Clausen Lozier, Mitchell W. Goldberg and Iryna Ivashchuk to Partner

MIAMI – January 2, 2018 – Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, is pleased to announce that Gina Clausen Lozier, Mitchell W. Goldberg, and Iryna Ivashchuk have been promoted to Partner effective January 1, 2018. Clausen Lozier is on the Dispute Resolution Team and both Goldberg and Ivashchuk are on the Business, Finance & Tax Team.

Since joining Berger Singerman in 2015 from a statewide insurance defense firm, Clausen Lozier’s focus has been on representing policyholders in first and third-party insurance claims and coverage analysis. Based out of the firm’s Boca Raton office, her experience in insurance litigation also covers data breach and cybersecurity matters. As a member of the Florida Insurance Fraud Task Force, she is actively involved in combating insurance fraud throughout the state. She currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Windstorm Insurance Network and is significantly involved in the Florida Association of Public Insurance Adjusters and the National Association of Public Adjusters. Clausen Lozier has been named a “Rising Star” by Florida’s Super Lawyers for five consecutive years since 2013 and was named one of America's Leading Business Lawyers for Insurance in 2017 by Chambers & Partners USA. She regularly provides educational training on relevant insurance issues facing Florida’s policyholders and community association managers and has authored many articles as well as presented at numerous insurance claims industry conferences and independent professional organizations on insurance coverage issues. Clausen Lozier earned her J.D. from the University of Toledo College of Law, and her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Bowling Green State University.
Since joining Berger Singerman in 2015, Goldberg, who is a Board Certified Specialist in Tax Law by The Florida Bar, has focused his practice on federal income, estate, gift, and generation skipping transfer taxation and related business transactions. Resident in the firm’s Boca Raton office, he counsels businesses and individuals on choice of entity to ensure desirable economic and tax results for both new business ventures and restructuring of ongoing businesses. Goldberg collaborates with members of the firm’s corporate, estate planning, real estate, and other practice groups in the analysis and drafting of sophisticated business transactions including asset purchase and sale agreements, stock purchase agreements, mergers, joint ventures, limited liability company operating agreements, partnership agreements and other contractual arrangements to provide tax efficient structures that maximize value. His international tax practice involves advising clients in both in-bound and out-bound transactions. Goldberg also represents taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Goldberg was named a 2017 “Rising Star” by Florida’s Super Lawyers and was a finalist for the South Florida Business & Wealth 2017 “Up and Comer” award. He received his J.D. cum laude and LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida where he also earned his B.S. in Business Finance.
Ivashchuk, who works out of Berger Singerman’s Miami office, joined the firm in 2010 and has focused her practice on complex real estate and financing matters and general corporate transactions. She advises clients in domestic and cross-border deals within an array of industries, markets, and business cycles. In the real estate area, she represents clients from all over the world on acquisitions and dispositions of all types of real and personal property, real estate and other asset-based financing, leasing of real and personal property, and real estate development, including creation, structuring and operation of condominiums and planned residential and mixed-use projects. Her corporate transactional experience includes merger, acquisition, joint venture and financing transactions involving both public and private companies. Ivashchuk has been named a “Rising Star” by Florida’s Super Lawyers for five consecutive years since 2013 and was selected as a Fellow of the Diversity Fellowship Program of the Business Law Section of The Florida Bar in 2015-2016. More recently, she was part of a team that won The M&A Advisor Turnaround Awards’ 2017 “Refinancing Deal of the Year” as well as of the 2017 “Latin American Deal of the Year.” She is also the current Vice President of the Ukrainian American Bar Association. Ivashchuk received her J.D. from the University of Florida Frederic G. Levin College of Law, where she was a board member of the Florida Journal of International Law and served as Notes Chair for the Journal of Law and Public Policy. Previously, she earned her B.B.A. summa cum laude from the University of North Georgia, and an M.S. in International Affairs from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
