Berger Singerman Continues Growth with Two New Hires and Creation of Innovation Advisor Position

MIAMI – August 27, 2018 – Continuing its firmwide growth, Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, is pleased to announce that Stephanie M. Chaissan and Andrew Zelman have joined the firm’s Dispute Resolution Team as Of Counsel and Associate, respectively, and Alejandro Miyar, an Associate on the Dispute Resolution Team, has been named Berger Singerman’s first Innovation Advisor.

Expanding the firm’s notable Dispute Resolution Team and joining as an Of Counsel based in its Miami office, Chaissan will continue her practice in complex commercial litigation, with a focus on business, condominium and construction cases. Her extensive experience includes litigating claims arising out of shareholder disputes, breach of contract, breach of warranty, breach of fiduciary duty, officer and director liability, corporate governance, and landlord and tenant disputes. Chaissan also has a background in civil appeals, matters involving condominium and homeowners’ associations, and representing real estate developers in a wide range of matters, including contractual disputes, statutory violations, and construction defects.

Prior to joining Berger Singerman, Chaissan was a Shareholder at Fowler White Burnett, P.A., where she represented corporations and individuals in complex commercial litigation cases in both state and federal court, as well as alternative dispute resolution proceedings. She has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a top-rated litigation attorney for three consecutive years. Chaissan earned her J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and her B.A. in Criminal Justice from University of Delaware.

Zelman bolsters the firm’s Dispute Resolution Team following many years handling a wide range of complex commercial disputes at a full-service AmLaw 100 firm. His practice will continue to focus on a variety of matters, including intellectual property, class action, and general liability cases in both state and federal court. Andrew also has an established practice devoted to counseling and defending employers in employment related litigation. He currently serves as the Chair of the Grievance Committee of The Florida Bar and is a Member of the Federal Court Practice Committee, a standing committee of The Florida Bar. Zelman received his B.A. degree from Wesleyan University and obtained his law degree from Florida International University’s College of Law.

Miyar will implement new technologies and resources to efficiently serve the firm's clients and attorneys. Initiatives he is currently overseeing include launching a pilot group to test AI software, developing portals for employees to communicate more efficiently with clients, upgrading the firm’s technology suite and conducting in-house technology trainings.
