Berger Singerman Bolsters Dispute Resolution Team with Addition of Justin B. Elegant as Partner

Esteemed civil trial attorney brings robust professional experience and inspiring civic commitment to the firm
MIAMI, FL – March 1, 2017 – Berger Singerman, Florida’s business law firm, is pleased to announce that civil litigator, Justin B. Elegant, has joined the firm as a partner on the Dispute Resolution Team. A respected business and community leader in South Florida, Elegant brings more than two decades of legal expertise and philanthropic involvement to the firm. He will be resident in the firm’s Miami office.
Elegant has devoted his practice to complex civil litigation primarily in Florida's state and federal courts as well as appellate litigation. He has successfully represented both individual and corporate clients in commercial, real estate, and insurance-related disputes.

Prior to joining Berger Singerman, Elegant was a name partner at Petros & Elegant. Earlier in his career, he interned for the Honorable Shelby Highsmith, U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Florida. Thereafter, he worked for Anderson, Moss, Sherouse & Petros, P.A. which was acquired by Shook, Hardy & Bacon, L.L.P. He was previously named a South Florida Business Journal “Up & Comer” award finalist and recognized as a Dade County Bar Association Young Lawyer of the Year.
Committed to community service, Elegant founded and directed the award-winning Dade County Bar Young Lawyers eMentoring Program, which paired volunteer young lawyers from the Dade County Bar with local legal magnet high school students for individualized telementoring relationships lasting throughout the school year. The successful program, which has been duplicated throughout Florida and elsewhere, allows lawyers to enhance a student’s education by providing individualized academic, motivational and emotional support.
Elegant is also a founding board member for the Open Tent organization at Temple Beth Sholom, as well as a founding member of the board of directors for Hugs & Kisses for Miami Children’s Hospital.
Elegant is active with The Florida Bar as Chair of The Florida Bar Grievance Committee. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, American Association for Justice, Florida Justice Association and Dade County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before the Florida Bar, U.S. District Courts for Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit. Elegant earned his J.D. from The University of Miami School of Law, receiving Pre-Trial Honors in Litigation Skills, and his B.A. from the University of Miami.
